I think Max said in a video that it felt like Advent Children and Kingdom Hearts, which isn't bad but it was completely different to the game prior to that point. The final fight was cool but the entire last chapter kinda sucked overall. I say this because the ending to vanilla FF7R came out of nowhere and was a completely different vibe too, although it was built up a little bit beforehand at the very least. Its got to the point that I feel like they aren't sure how to end their games, Deepground could have been removed and it would have ended much better imo, they made no difference in the story other than to show us why they included blood as a tag by the ESRB. The Deepground stuff was a pretty huge tone shift too, the enemies and the boss just had me like "wtf is this?" The entire time. Maybe my Dirge of Cerberus knowledge is lacking but I didn't notice any indication that they were gonna appear in the game prior to them turning up unless you include the trailer, which I do not. Maybe I'm just bias, but even if I am its hard to disagree that Deepground came out of nowhere. As far as I know not many people liked Dirge of Cerberus or Deepground, so why did they decide to reintroduce them here? I thought the idea of Remake was to acknowledge the lore points from the compilation by selectively choosing the most interesting and most popular lore points from it, so why Deepground? I loved it, but the final 30 minutes of Deepground stuff I wish wasn't included. I could go on about the music and a LOT more but I’ve already gotten carried away with this reply lol Now I feel a weird mix of excitement and contentment regarding the release of part two. The added-on ending warms my heart, just seeing the party casually chat and travel. How the NPCs seem so grateful for “that merc” made such an impact on me for completing the base game’s first round of side quests for some reason. I liked the happy turtle side quest and walking around sector 7 in a different perspective. Yuffie is so fun to play, and her elemental ninjitsu helps with not having to switch around materia before every fight. The combat is as great as ever but with noticeable improvements. Sonon, while i felt he was mostly just there for the most part, what happened to him was still emotional despite 100% expecting that. I was super curious to see how’d they’d handle her character, and so far she’s one of my favorites.
